– EFCC seeks international help in the ant-corruption crusade
– Three officials of Jonathan’s government may be declared wanted by the Interpol
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has looking for the help of International police (Interpol) to arrest the former government officials in high profile cases. A reliable source at the EFFC told the Punch reporter that Interpol had been asked to keep some of the suspected personalities under watch while some others would be arrested immediately if spotted. He said: “We are seeking Interpol’s assistance to establish the exact locations of these persons and to help us to monitor their movements. If these persons are travelling from one country or the other, we would be alerted at the airport.
“Once we can get them, we will approach a court and get an extradition order.” Below are the three prominent Nigerians on international alert list.
1. Mahmood Ahmadu, in connivance with Drexel Tech Nigeria Ltd, allegedly lavished N423m of the N676m extorted from the applicants on several properties in the Immigration recruitment
2. A former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team, Mr. Abdulrasheed Maina, of an alleged N2bn fraud.
3. The immediate past Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Bello Adoke (SAN) over the $2bn Malabu scam.
President Muhammadu Buhari was elected last year on a platform to tackle the corruption but similar promises by his predecessors have had virtually no impact. The politician, who some called Baba Go-Slow, has taken swift action on one of the biggest problems: corruption and inefficiency within the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.
