US magazine lauds davido, tags him one of Africa's biggest

– Foremost American entertainment magazine, Rollingstone, rates Davido as one of Africa’s biggest stars following his Fader magazine exclusive 

– The Afro pop star also gave a remarkable performance at the recent Fader Fort concert in Austin, Texas
Nigerian pop star Davido is breaking the ice in many more ways previously unimagined with his music and it all so good for the African music industry. From signing a music partnership deal with Sony Music in January 2016 to appearing on Fader magazine in February 2016, the Skelewu singer is definitely on a major trajectory. The singer has gained yet another international territory with a recent article from foremost entertainment platform Rollingstone.

In the Rollingstone piece titled 25 Artists You Need To See, the 23-year-old eccentric singer is described as one of Africa’s biggest rising stars. The magazine added that with his new Sony Music partnership, he just might attain the status of becoming one of the world’s biggest stars. Here’s what Rollingstone wrote:

“Ever since he hit with 2012’s effusive Dami Duro, Davido has been one of Africa’s biggest rising stars. Now that he’s signed an international deal with Sony, it looks like he may become one of the world’s biggest, too. To American ears, his sound seems to split the difference between dance music’s uptempo beats, R&B melodies and hip-hop’s effortless swag. Yet it’s all incorporated through a sound that is distinctly African, with rhythms that prove to be more compulsively danceable than most things making waves on the Hot 100. His upcoming album Baddest — which he recently revealed to Fader will include a feature from rapper Future — will be a major test for African artists crossing over in the United States. But Davido is confident: ‘I know what kind of songs work. The music should have everything in it — Jamaican, African, American, everything.'” 

On Friday, March 18, Davido performed at the Fader Fort concert presented by Converse. The event held in Austin, Texas and featured other interesting world music stars such as Yo Goti, Rae Sremmund and the Sremmlife Crew, Desiigner, Adia Victoria, Metro Boomin and Bibi Bourelly, among others. The pop star gave a three minutes plus performance of Aye with a live band in front of a largely American audience and the reception was good.
