6 killed in Dangote truck accident

– Accident along Lokoja-Abuja blamed on bad weather 

– The six people who died have been taken to the morgue #

– A Dangote truck and a bus were involved in the early morning collision

6 people have been confirmed dead after a cement truck belonging to Dangote Company and a bus were involved in an accident on the Lokoja-Abuja road. 


Vanguard reports that the accident occoured in the early hours of Tuesday, March 22 at a bend at Ohono village located on the busy road. Apart from those that lost their lives, 10 persons sustained varying degrees of injuries. 

Mr Ogochukwu Ugboma who is the sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps confirmed the tragic incidence. He said the Dangote truck collided with a J5 bus and revealed that four persons were unhurt.

Ugboma said that traffic control was ongoing at the bend to avoid disruption to vehicular movement. 

He speculated the accident may have been caused by the bad weather and the state of the road. He said the injured were taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Lokoja for treatment while those that passed away were put in the hospital morgue. 

In a related occurence, a fatal accident occurred near Four Square camp in Ajebo, Lagos-Ibadan expressway leading to the death of passengers. According to eyewitness reports, the unfortunate incidence was caused by the driver of the commercial vehicle who was driving against traffic perhaps to avoid the traffic on his own lane. The driver was reportedly slammed head-long into a trailer on the expressway.
